Manhole in concrete

Standard BNQ 2622-420
Precast Reinforced Concrete Sewer Manholes, Catch Basins, Valve Chambers and Pumping Stations

Precast reinforced concrete structures offer the advantage of a long service life, excellent leaktightness, and a large load-bearing capacity. These characteristics are possible when cast in reinforced concrete in accordance with stringent requirements such as those laid out in the standard BNQ 2622-420.

The purpose of the standard BNQ 2622-420 is to establish requirements concerning the dimensions and structural characteristics of circular or polygonal precast reinforced concrete sewer maintenance holes, catch basins, valve chambers, and pumping stations. It also defines the test methods and controls used to verify compliance with these requirements.

This standard applies to precast reinforced concrete sewer maintenance holes, catch basins, valve chambers, and pumping stations intended for use in sanitary sewer, storm water, and combined sewer systems, and also in drinking water systems, to a maximum depth of 7 m.

BNQ 2622-420 was developed to serve as a reference document for conformity evaluation activities of the products targeted.

For requirements concerning the installation of sewer maintenance holes, catch basins, and valve chambers, referral to the standardized specification BNQ 1809-300 is recommended.

Certification Offer

Protocol BNQ 2622-951 lays down the certification requirements, rules of procedure, and marking requirements that apply to the certification of circular or polygonal precast reinforced concrete sewer maintenance holes, catch basins, valve chambers, and pumping stations in accordance with the requirements of BNQ 2622-420. This protocol is intended for manufacturers seeking to have the conformity of their products recognized by the Bureau de normalisation du Québec (BNQ), and for owners who wish to rely on the certification program BNQ 2622-420.

This certification program is accredited by the Standards Council of Canada.
